The L.D. Bell High School Theatre Company is an award-winning acting, improvisational, and technical organization based in Hurst, Texas. Established in 1952, our present-day directors and troupe members proudly carry on the traditions and legacy of the department by producing high-quality theatre. As of the 2024-2025 school year, Bell Theatre’s Troupe #949 is one of 39 Honor Troupes recognized by the International Thespian Society in the state of Texas. Students involved are taught important leadership and teamwork skills while producing quality shows that entertain their community, state, and beyond.

Meet the Directors!

Candace Harris

Head Director of L.D. Bell Theatre

Candace Harris is a visionary director and designer with over two decades of experience in educational and professional theatre. Under the direction of Mrs. Harris, L.D. Bell Theatre has been nominated and awarded multiple theatrical accolades at the local, state, and national level. Her aptitude for leadership and directing has led to her recognition as a Texas Thespians Teacher of the Month for October 2023. Mrs. Harris has brightened the futures of many aspiring actors and technicians, and she doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon!

Hannah Kelly

Assistant Director of L.D. Bell Theatre

Hannah Kelly is a 2022 graduate of UT Austin and alumna of L.D. Bell Theatre. During her time at Bell, Ms. Kelly participated in Raiderettes, Wisecracks, and UIL One Act. After graduating from UT Austin with a B.F.A. in Theatre Education, Ms. Kelly taught theatre at Vista Ridge Middle School in Keller ISD, returning to her alma mater the following school year to direct alongside her former mentor, Mrs. Harris. She plans on supporting Mrs. Harris and her students as they achieve their personal and theatrical goals.
